Tuesdays, June 21 & 28, 2022
A 2-week, bite-sized workshop designed to demystify and explore the basics of the movement. Get to know the principal artists and ideas, then try them out yourself: first by inhabiting the movement’s ideas and aesthetics, then by seeing how they might dovetail with your own artistic practice.
The early part of the 20th century saw unprecedented technological change — planes, trains, automobiles, radio, skyscrapers — with artists embracing the change, attempting to convey the excitement of speed, noise, and mechanization visually in their work. Gone were the static and bucolic — it was all about dynamism now!
We will be on the easy-to-use Zoom platform. Students love my Art History slide shows, and Zoom really shines for this: you get a really good look at the work!
The course is accompanied by a private Facebook Group where you can upload your finished or in-progress homework, plus see and comment on your fellow classmates’ work. It’s a lively, collegial safe space to share your work, and I offer comments on all work posted.
Recordings of live sessions are made available to all participants, so if you can't make the live time slot, you can watch it later.
Video-only Version: $66
The only difference is that you don't join us for the live Zoom class, but rather watch the video replay, which I make available to all enrolled students shortly after each class. You're able to join the private Facebook group (for sharing, support and feedback with/from your fellow students as well as me) and you can email me one or two questions a week to be addressed during class if desired.
Cost: $80 for 2 live classes,
$66 for video-only version
