More Art from the Garden
Thursdays, July 8 - 29, 2020
NEW! 3h classes! 10am-1pm EDT
Live Class Limit: 15
Our gardens offer us the opportunity to collaborate creatively with nature, so it’s no wonder so many artists are gardeners! During Covid, our gardens have been more important than ever, providing refuge from the pandemic.
Nature is profuse with wondrous colours and shapes, but it is also rich in texture, pattern, proportion, meaning and memory — and that’s just the beginning…
We’ll start nice and easy, rooted in observation before venturing further into artistic explorations: playing with colour and composition, abstraction, metaphors… and more! This ain’t your Aunt Betty’s watercolour peonies!
I hope you can join me for this summer Garden (Art) Party — now who’s bringing the lemonade?
MEDIA: We’ll do some drawing, some painting, some photography (for reference at least) and quite possibly a bit of collage, but there will be fair bit of leeway regarding your material choices — especially for your weekly projects.
We will be on the easy-to-use Zoom platform. Students love my Art History slide shows, and Zoom really shines for this: you get a really good look at the work. Each class will have a short real-time exercise and a longer (optional) weekly project you can engage with between classes to the extent that you desire.
The course is accompanied by a private Facebook Group where you can upload your finished or in-progress homework, plus see and comment on your fellow classmates’ work. It’s a lively, collegial safe space to share your work, and I offer comments on all work posted.
Recordings of live sessions will be made available to participants, so if you can't make the live time slot, you can catch up later with the recording.
Video-only Version: $120
The only difference is that you don't join us for the live Zoom class, but rather watch the video replay, which I make available to all enrolled students shortly after each class. You're able to join the private Facebook group (for sharing, support and feedback with/from your fellow students as well as me) and you can email me one or two questions a week to be addressed during class if desired.
Cost: $144 for 4 live classes,
$120 for video-only version
