Collaging The Landscape
Thursdays, May 26 - June 23, 2022
Who hasn’t rendered a landscape at some point in their art-making? From the anticipation of what new delight lies around the next bend to the intimate knowledge of the familiar, a keen sense of place is central to our nature as humans. Collage affords us fresh new ways to explore and express our connections to our environment. Through his trademark blend of inspiring masterwork examples, lively discussion and plenty of fun and challenging hands-on exercises, Kal will get you started collaging both observationally and expressively. We’ll then progress into guided but self-directed exploration and development of personal work relating to the places that matter most to you as an artist. Some structure and support, plenty of artistic latitude: Come explore some new collage territory!
Working from the comfort of your own home/studio, you’ll connect with fellow collagers through group discussions and a short, real-time exercise during each class, as well as working on a weekly project on your own time between classes.
We will be on the easy-to-use Zoom online meeting platform. Students love my Art History slide shows, and Zoom really shines for this: you get a really good look at the work!
The course is accompanied by a private Facebook Group where you can upload your finished or in-progress homework, plus see and comment on your fellow classmates’ work. It’s a lively, collegial safe space to share your work, and I offer comments on all work posted.
Recordings of live sessions are made available to all participants, so if you can't make the live time slot, you can watch it later.
Video-only Version: $165
The only difference is that you don't join us for the live Zoom class, but rather watch the video replay, which I make available to all enrolled students shortly after each class. You're able to join the private Facebook group (for sharing, support and feedback with/from your fellow students as well as me) and you can email me one or two questions a week to be addressed during class if desired.
Cost: $200 for 5 live classes,
$165 for video-only version
