Virtual Collage Jam Finale:
Monday September 28, 2026. 2-4pm ET.

Virtual Collage Jam was conceived in response to the Covid 19 pandemic. My wife Kim just knew we needed to offer our artist communities livestreams that were free, easily accessible and would help people cope with the isolation of lockdowns. Being stuck at home with an endless cycle of news about how the pandemic was unfolding was the perfect recipe for fear, anxiety and feeling helpless. A chance to spend a little time making something – hopefully forgetting for an hour or two about the worrying outside world. It worked, and was very appreciated. In 2020, we often had 40-50 people attending.

I have kept it going ever since – albeit less frequently than those first couple of years. But you'll have noticed recently that I have struggled to keep up. Emails going out late. My engagement on our Virtual Collage Jam Facebook page has been sporadic at best.

I love to create new things. I'm a novelty freak, too. This is why I suit being an artist. But sadly, the flip side is that I am really bad at follow-up and consistency, as you've no doubt noticed.

So yes. With a heavy heart, I am going to cease offering Virtual Collage Jam for the foreseeable future. (Sniff!)

A HUGE thank you!
I want to express so much gratitude to everyone for all they brought to Virtual Collage Jam! Your passion, your commitment to joining our streams, your posting collages and supporting each other as you grew your collage skills.

For quite a while there, we were creating true collage magic!!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for that. I will remember so many moments with true fondness.

I'd like to extend specific thanks to a few people who helped me make it what it was:
Obviously to my wife Kim Lee Kho who helped me host the first few years. To Rebecca Niblett, my trusty right hand who took my late, disorganized efforts at promotion and communication and wrangled them into excellent emails and promotions. And to Cherie Rahkola, who wrote an excellent article about Virtual collage Jam, submitted it to Kolaj Magazine, and got it published in issue #34!
And to my dear, dear regulars – you know who you are –
THANK YOU!

Onward and Upward!
For me – yes, but especially for you. Keep creating. And keep on collaging!

Much love,
Kat

FOR ME, A RURAL ARTIST working in a medium that is not fully understood in my community, Kal and the community he has created is a lifeline… to connect with other artists and to hear their thinking is invaluable. I so appreciate the fact that he has created a Facebook group for us as well, a place that allows us to share with one another and a place I know I will get critical feedback from fellow artists.
