Collaging In Their Footsteps

(5 classes) 10am-1pm ET $200.00 Live Class Limit: 15 Video-only option: $165.00 The Collaged Response is a new series of courses taking inspiration from creative fields outside of collage. When we broaden our scope to include other senses, disciplines and ways of thinking and making – it both inspires our creativity and frees us from limiting direct comparisons. The Collaged Response: Music Using various forms of historic and contemporary music as our jumping off points, we will explore the possibilities of creating collages in response to a wide range of sonic creations. We’ll begin by investigating a few (of the myriad) musical genres as a class, while also looking at visual art forms that relate in some way: either products of the same period or with related artistic intents. We’ll then branch into your own personal interests in music, delving into its potential influences on your collage practice. As with all my courses, there will be plenty of opportunity for self expression in both the set and open exercises. Working from the comfort of your own home/studio, you’ll connect with fellow collagers through group discussions and real-time exercises during each class, as well as working on a project on your own time between classes. We will be on the easy-to-use Zoom online meeting platform. The course is accompanied by a private Facebook Group where you can upload your finished or in-progress homework, plus see and comment on your fellow classmates’ work. It’s a lively, collegial safe space to share your work, and I offer comments on all work posted. Recordings of live sessions are made available to all participants, so if you can't make the live time slot, you can watch it later. Video-only Version: $165.00 The only difference is that you don't join us for the live Zoom class, but rather watch the video replay, which I make available to all enrolled students shortly after each class. You're able to join the private Facebook group (for sharing, support and feedback with/from your fellow students as well as me) and you can email me one or two questions a week to be addressed during class if desired.
